The Kota Baru Water Park in Indonesia is a 4.4-ha water park with a 2-ha retail, dining and entertainment village attached.
Our client asked FORREC to create a place that would feel exotic and foreign for its predominantly local guests – a fun, relaxing and colourful place with an international vibe. FORREC took inspiration from Cape Cod and its seaside look for the concept master plan and wove the casual but sophisticated look of the Cape into every detail, from white rope strung across the park’s bridges to building facades painted in pale blue and white. FORREC delved deeper into the story by creating three mascots whose antics would align with the theme of the park. Bobby the Bottle-nosed Dolphin, Sally the Harbour Seal, and Peter the Pelican show up in fun ways throughout the park, sometimes as rides and sometimes as photo ops.
Set in an old quarry with a natural lagoon and landscaped cliffs that encapsulate the development, the site’s elevated topography creates dramatic views and a unique sense of enclosure.
