Friday Harbour Marina Pier and Pavilion

Innisfil, Canada

Visible from 360°, this centerpiece on the marina pier enhances the performance experience for both patrons under the structure and privately moored vessels on the water. Leveraging the waterside stage and lanternlike effect across the harbour, a 25-meter-tall fabric covered tensile steel event pavilion reflects the dynamic energy of waves and watercraft in motion. Inclined tapered structural masts elegantly support the graceful arc of the sails and camouflage the state of the art audio-visual system.

Working extensively with the engineering and fabrication team, FORREC provided full architecture and landscape architecture services to elevate the year-round resort entertainment experience, including custom prefabricated modular food and beverage and back of house buildings as backdrops for the performance space. The pavilion and pier end landscaping were completed in 2021, going from sketch to occupancy within one year.
