Star Princess Activity Deck

Princess Cruise Lines

FORREC’s design for this innovative new ship reimagines the top decks as an immersive journey that unites ocean rhythms with celestial wonder in a multi-generational guest experience.

The design process began with an in-depth review of Princess Cruises’ Sphere Class brand and guest journey. Working closely with the entertainment and executive teams, FORREC developed thematic zones that transform from day to night, featuring jogging tracks, multi-functional sports courts, shuffleboard, lounge areas, and an iconic water feature. Integrated lighting and graphics extend the ship’s use of this open-air area into the evening.

Operating within tight shipyard and scheduling constraints, FORREC supported the project through concept and schematic design and into implementation—coordinating with an international group of fabricators including De Wave Group of Monfalcone and best constructors ltd from Belfast, all while adapting designs to meet value-engineering and brand requirements.

The Star Princess sets a new benchmark for sustainable design at sea. Powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), it significantly reduces emissions compared to traditional marine fuels. On the Star Princess activity deck, dark-sky–compliant lighting preserves night skies and sensitive habitats, while durable, IMO-certified materials withstand harsh marine conditions and extend the lifecycle of furnishings.

By activating previously under-used decks, the project delivers a cohesive, high-value, guest-centric destination blending active lifestyle, relaxation, and storytelling at sea.
