A Fresh Perspective On What’s Already There

Feb 24, 2026

Many successful theme parks and attractions don’t start from scratch: they reinvest in what already exists. At FORREC, we often have the opportunity to partner with owners and operators to evaluate and revitalize existing destinations. The very nature of these projects often requires working within tight schedules to accommodate the existing guest experience and constrained site plans working around existing park or attraction elements.

This process can improve guest and employee satisfaction, unlock new revenue potential, and increase per-capita spending through longer stays and repeat visits, optimized retail and F&B offerings, and improved guest circulation.

In Brazil, FORREC’s master planning for the Sugarloaf Cable Car reimagines how an iconic destination operates—transforming it into a platform for sustainable tourism, media, and entertainment. Grounded in a deep respect for cultural and natural context, the revitalized plan introduces new experiences spanning adventure, wellness, dining, and retail. At MOTIONGATE Dubai, FORREC completed a park-wide audit and revitalization strategy to support the expansion of the Hollywood-inspired theme park. This work informed the addition of two new attractions to the Lionsgate land; John Wick: Open Contract, an immersive 4D coaster, and Now You See Me, the world’s fastest spinning coaster. Beyond the rides, FORREC designed a connected retail, dining, and entertainment street to link John Wick, Now You See Me, and The Hunger Games, strengthening narrative cohesion and elevating the overall guest journey. https://forrec.com/projects/motiongate-dubai-john-wick-open-contract/

Operating since 1964, Heritage Park is a 127-acre living history museum in Calgary that brings nearly 100 years of western Canadian history to life through historic buildings, costumed interpreters, and exhibits. The Heritage Park Society engaged FORREC to develop a visionary 20-year master plan, informed by site analysis, staff collaboration, workshops, and research on successful living history museums. The resulting strategy will provide a phased approach to enhance the visitor experience to better leverage the park’s existing assets and strengthen its role within the community.

Whether through audits, feasibility studies, master planning, or full revitalization strategies, our goal is the same: to strategically, creatively, and sustainably unlock new value from existing assets and extend their lifespan.

Some of the most powerful transformations begin with a fresh perspective on what’s already there.
