Xixi Wetlands

Hangzhou, China

FORREC created a unique plan for the spectacular Xixi National Wetland Park, weaving an original story together with the history of China’s Silk Road and the wetlands.

Building on the natural ecology of the site, the Xixi Wetlands VR Park incorporates media technology with land and water. The experience runs throughout the park, from the Sky Bridge to the Crescent Pools and attractions in the Forgotten Forest. The story of the Willow Weaver is incorporated throughout the harbor, forest, and lagoons and through man-made sculptures. These whimsical points of interaction are visual landmarks and entry features. Visitors are invited to interact with the sculptures to trigger kinetic and multisensory effects, overlaid at nighttime with digital projection and lighting.

Unlike any other ecological park, RFID artifacts track visitors’ interactions with the attractions, retail spaces, and eco-walks through a holistic gamified experience.
