Dramatically angled expanses of glass connect the inside and outside of this striking building, which wraps around a central courtyard. An iconic maple forms the focal point of this Wi-Fi enabled outdoor reading space with lots of seating. Overlooking the courtyard is a 100 square metre rooftop terrace with more native plants and additional chairs and loungers.
The surrounding landscape reflects the strong, modern lines of the building. At the entranceway, linear seating is integrated into the stairs and a distinctive garden sculpture evokes the movement of tall grass. Native Ontario plants and trees provide natural shade and visual interest. The limestone that delineates the main planters is a continuation of the material used in the adjacent civic square.
